Since 2021, the Buis Book Foundation has conducted ten book giveaways at five different elementary schools. We began at Thomasville-Heights in Atlanta Public Schools (which closed at the end of the year due to lack of enrollment), moved to Kimberly in APS, added Britt in Gwinnett County Public Schools, added Tuskegee Airmen Academy this year and, through Hands-On Atlanta, also held giveaways at Usher-Collier and Flat Shoals in APS.
At each giveaway, students select from thousands of books that interest them, thus improving the odds that they will actually read the book and increase their literacy.
